I saw a marked increase in birds over last week. A particuliarly good area was noted to the left of the parking after you make the first left into the park. Continue to where the three picnic tables and barbeque grill are on the left. It is the area just at the start of the tall pines. There are numerous small palms grouped together. The area is shaped almost like a half circle and the Oak trees that line the outside of the trail had many warblers, vireos etc. I saw my first Black-throated Green Warbler of the season here. Across the street from this area I saw a Broad-winged Hawk perched high in a pine. He was being harassed by several Blue Jay's. Soon he had enough and flew directly over me. I did not see the Prothonotary/Bay-Breasted or Blue-winged today. There was a flurry of people activity near the lake as some event was being set up. I did not see the Black-poll either. Many flocks of various birds flew overhead.
