Passing of Page Brown

Page L. Brown of Summerland Key died on September 13 in Miami, following a brief illness: he was 83. He was an avid birder, environmentalist,photographer and sportsman; in the words of baseball great Ted Williams, "Page Brown was a hell of a fisherman."

Those of us who have been part of the Coot Bay Christmas Count family for many mango seasons, fondly remember Page and his wife Margaret's help on countless counts. I fondly remember him showing me his photos of the Least Grebe that was at the Blue Hole on Big Pine Key in the 80's.

In light of this weeks tragic events, as our nation weeps and mourns with the families and friends of those lost their lives in this senseless act,take a moment to pray for Marge and her family at the loss of our fellow birder and friend.
