A quick trip to Virginia Key this afternoon produced the Great Black-Hawk, at the Y fork of Arthur Lamb, Jr. Road and the sewage plant road. It was cooperative but didn't call.

Also present were buckets of Palm Warblers, a light-morph Short-tailed Hawk and a couple of Painted Buntings. Eight Avocets were on Crandon Beach on the outgoing tide.

The dragonfly migration on both islands is extraordinary! If masses of large bugs can produce radar returns, perhaps some of the images today can be attributed to the incredible number of dragonflies.
