The Greynolds Park bird walk on Saturday had seven enthusiatic birders that dodged rain showers throughout the early morning as they walked the park trails. 10 species of warblers were observed plus a very active bright yellow warbler that escaped ID confirmation. Highlights included Black-throated Blue Warbler, American Redstarts, Worm-eating, Black & White, N. Waterthrush, many Parula's, Prairie Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Ovenbird, and Yellow-throated Warbler. Three species of vireos were observed: Red-eyed Vireo, White-eyed Vireo, and Yellow-throated Vireo. First of the season Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were also observed in the park. I would also like to acknowledge the 50 vounteers that came out to Greynolds Park on Saturday morning as part of National Public Lands Day to work on nature trails to control exotic vegetation to improve wildlife habitat. Volunteers are needed at our nature centers.
