We covered the classic FL Bay route by water and land, covering from Snake Bight to Cape Sable, and various keys in between. This included East Cape, Lake Ingraham and the Southern Lakes. I was accompanied by Peter Frezza and Nadir Souirgi.

We tallied 81 species (83 taxa), totaling over 13,000 individuals during a 13-hour run.
It was a well-balanced count, with nice variety but no great surprises and various misses.

Highlights included:
American Flamingo
16 Whimbrels
Red Knots (some still bearing red plumage)
20 sandpiper species overall
Nearly 8,000 Calidridine sandpipers of 7 species
51 Wilson's Plovers
Over 100 Great White Herons and nearly 40 intermediates
Over 600 Snowy Egrets
Various Merlins and Peregrines
7 Bald Eagles
Clapper Rails
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2) - not common in the Bay
Passerines were not in great variety, but we managed to find good numbers of Yellow and Prairie Warblers, and Northern Waterthrushes, among others.

Once again, another great time with the NAMC in the Bay we love.

The following day, while at the Curry Hammock Hawkwatch, a Clay-colored Sparrow and a Dickcissel fed from the grasses only a few yards from the watch post.
