The spoonbill can be a very unreliable species (besides around Naples, Ft. Myers. and Flamingo) depending on water levels. Palm Beach tends to have more spoonbills, at least in my notes. I think you could find them, according to "A Birder's Guide to Florida" by Bill Pranty in the Hobe Sound area. Look around the Indian River and the St. Lucie Inlet. Check around here on the Stuart Causeway and the Jensen Beach Causeway (I think it should be best at low tide). However these are in Martin County, and maybe evn into St. Lucie County. It will be much safer to check Everglades National Park, or the Florida Keys Bird Center (MM 93.8). I have always seen them at the Bird Center. Flamingo, all the way down at the end of Evergaldes National Park will have them, in much greater numbers than the other areas. Good luck!
