The American Oystercatcher was visible for at least a half-hour this morning from the boat-launch ramp at Morningside Park, albeit at a distance. It was at the south end of the southernmost spoil island, but it displayed itself in a cooperative fashion, standing in front of the Pelicans and Cormorants.

: The American Oysercatcher was present this afternoon at low-tide in Morningside Park, just off Biscayne Boulevard. The bird will allow close approach (about 15-20 feet if you move slowly), giving me great pictures. When flushed by a fisherman, it flew across the bay and headed towards a "spoil island". It is great to find this beautiful bird, especially when it is just a 5 minute walk from my front door... literally! Thanks to Brian for posting about it, and thanks to Brennan and company for finding it.
: Year bird and a county bird!
