This Afternoon I decided to take a break from birding the mangrove
and coastal hammock habitats and checked around the open
grassy areas in the campgrounds and the coastal prairie that
surrounds them. It was relatively slow going until I got to T-loop
where there were two Bobolinks (first of season) sitting in the
treeline west of the loop. Another new bird for this fall was a
Chipping Sparrow that still had some juvenile streaking, just west
of the beginning of T-loop.

A check this afternoon of the swallow resting areas turned up 27
Barn Swallows, 3 Cliff Swallows (first since 8/23), 2 Bank
Swallows, and 3 Purple Martins.
