A group of 8 birders joined me and my co-leader Elena at Cape Florida on September 5, and by rigorous application of sound scientific principles we were able to prove true Toe's Theorum, one frequently espoused on this Board.

Despite our best efforts, birds were few and far between. Aside from numerous Barn Swallows overhead, migrants consisted of 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 2 Redstarts, 1 heard Ovenbird, 1 Prairie Warbler, 1 Yellowthroat, and 1 Gnatcatcher. We also had several Eastern Kingbirds, 2 Chimney Swifts, 1 heard Bobolink, and a probable - but barely glimpsed-Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Attempts to call in a Varied Thrush were, predictably, unsuccessful.

Still, it was a nice morning for a hike, and those in attendance enjoyed a few birds and the friendly company that is the signature of our TAS walks.
