Since my move Barnes is no longer a pre-work stop; too bad since birds are so much easier to see there when compared to the tangled mess that is Castellow Hammock. I will make do...and pish a lot, I guess!

Today found a fair number of birds in flight at sunrise: gnatcatchers, warblers, bobolinks, flocks of nighthawks and eastern kingbirds. I went to Castellow and saw the following highlights:
1 or 2 chuck-will's widows (first for the season)
single flock of 10+ common nighthawks
one loud great crested flycatcher
eastern kingbird flock passing over -about 6
yellow-throated vireo- 1
red-eyed vireo- 5
bluegray gnatcatchers- 8 or so
parula- 1
american yellowstart- 1
worm-eating warbler- 3
ovenbird- 3
bobolink flyovers- around 6

No black-throated blues so far today- that was the bird of the day back on Tuesday!

Cheers,
Michelle

(for newcomers- Castellow Hammock is on 162nd Ave between 232 St and 200 St, if my memory for numbers serves me well. It often doesn't!)
