Today, December 11 at 10am an adult male Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was observed at Royal Palm Visitor Center in Everglades National Park. The bird was actively feeding in the Gumbo Limbo trees at the South End of the Parking lot and near the beginning of the Anhinga Trail. See Pranty page 236 for directions.

Betty Siegel, a visiting birder from Homer Alaska and I were joined by Robin Diaz , Brian Rapoza and several dozen school children in oohing and aahing over a truely magnificant speciman with tail feathers at the extreme length for the species and in very bright plumage with salmon pink sides and wing linings and reddish axillaries.
