It was a fun day to be out birding. Rocky Jetty, Tito Luciani, and I explored the sod farm area too.
We were thrilled to hear several Black Rail calling in a field just off Highway 27 a few miles south of South Bay. Thanks to the TAS group for calling us about these birds...and for the birds who were calling despite the mid-morning heat! We also rounded up some early birds like a flock of 20 Blue-winged Teal (Sam Senter) and a beautiful male Northern Harrier (Gladeview).
Not to mention, it felt good to pass 500 on my ABA list today!
