This behavior was first observed in Green Herons at the Miami Seaquarium in 1975. I saw them there at the old Lost Islands area(now much changed) and have a short video of the behavior done by the BBC at that time.
I have not heard of it recently and would be interested in knowing if it has been observed
anywhere in south Florida recently. The north campus of Miami-Dade Cmmunity College was another
location where it was observed.

: This sighting is from many years ago, the earlier post sparked my memory, and I thought some of you might find it interesting. There was a little Heron, not sure of the type, in Tropical Park that would take bread people fed to the ducks and use it, in another area of the lake shore, to attract minnows. It was always fun to watch this little bird dine on his meal as the minnows served themselves right up to him.
