I birded Gumbo Limbo trail and the parking lot as well as the Annex and C-111 canal and made a quick trip by Cutler Wetlands. There were decent numbers of birds but still plenty of mosquitoes.

Northern Parula
Black-and-white Warbler
Yellow Warbler
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
Louisiana Waterthrush
Northern Waterthrush
American Redstart

Red-eyed Vireo
Eastern Kingbird
Eastern Wood-Pewee
NINE Alder Flycatcher

Lots of swallows including Barn, Cliff, Bank and Northern rough-winged as well as Purple Matins.

There were lots of shorebirds in the plowed fields west of Benito Juarez Park. Between here and some of the other fields including Cutler Wetlands I had:

Black-bellied Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Killdeer
Black-necked Stilt
Lesser Yellowlegs
Greater Yellowlegs
Solitary Sandpiper
Semipalmated Sandpiper
Western Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
Pectoral Sandpiper
Short-billed Dowitcher
Stilt Sandpiper at Cutler Wetlands as well as 5-Black Terns.

The best bird was a Crested Caracara eating road kill west of Benito Juarez Park on the north side of the road. As I was walking back to my car it flew right over my head on the south side of the road. I tried to find it later for photos but could not find it.

The rains should help those involved in the shorebird Big Day.
