There was also a different feel today in Cape Florida. There was more bird movement, along with increased flight and contact calls. In the skies were Gray Kingbirds, Eastern Kingbird, Belted Kingfisher, Purple Martins, Barn Swallows and a Swallow-tailed Kite, a good bird for the Cape. In the hammock areas there was increase in warbler species and numbers: Black-and-white, Swainson's, Worm-eating, Prothonotary, Black-throated Blue, Prairie, Ovenbird, American Redstart and Northern Waterthrush. Until today, Louisiana Waterthrushes have been present. Michelle came across 5 Chuck-will's-widows and I had my first Bobolinks of the season.

There were 23 Lesser Black-backed Gulls on Crandon Beach.
