Prairie warblers and many BGgnatcatchers were in the oaks and quite a few gnats also along with no-see-ums at Hoechoka Hammock north Broward.

And....and 25 mottled ducks came in a wedge and settled in to feed as if they knew the drill! Probably last years' yuppies since they showed no fear and walked right up on the shore. Haven't seen them since back in April.

Many turtles and hundreds of peacock bass, bluegills and other assorted fish now crowd the feeding pen area every morning at 7:00. Such a delightful sight. I watched a orb weaver being stung, paralyzed and carted off by a wasp. Now there is a sight you don't see too often.

Orchids are blooming in gay profusion and the heat, humidity and rain are making the hammock grow!
