OK, I sent the photo to the leading Florida arachnologist G.B. Edwards. Here's his reply:

Hi Vincent,
It definitely is a wolf spider. Our large species have mostly been transferred from Lycosa to the genus Hogna (although that will probably be changed at some point too). This is a Hogna species, but not H. carolinensis (which is even larger!). Not sure which one, there are several in your area that are similar in appearance. Hogna carolinensis is mostly gray, with a black underside. I actually need some live H. carolinensis, so if you find any, please send!
