The Golden Plover was on the southern end of the beach staying just out of the way of about 100 Black-bellied Plover. He stood out from the rest of them with his erect posture, distinct brow, black cap, and the fact that he literally stood away from the flock. Thanks Robin for your help, and thanks Larry for your recent post of the two for good contast.

Felipe went earlier this morning and saw the Golden Plover and the same shorebirds I saw today out in the flats. He said he saw many Semipalmated Plovers and Sanderling, both Black-backed Gulls, Herring, Ring-billed, and Laughing Gulls, and Royal Terns. He had 2 other lifers besides the Golden-Plover: Red-breasted Merganser and Wilson's Plover. He missed his life Caspian Tern and Northern Gannets.
