Another likely spot to see the kites moving southward is in "East Everglades," the area along SW 237 Avenue, south of Chekika. At 12:15 PM on 9 August 2008 I spotted ~160 kites slowly streaming southward, parallel to the road. They flew low and finally caught a thermal to form a kettle that slowly drifted to the SE. I've seen kites in good numbers in this area other years also.
