I found an adult male Dark-eyed Junco (Slate-colored) in Everglades
National Park this morning. I saw the bird at 9 a.m. along the main
park road by the entrance to West Lake. It was feeding in the grass in
the open and in the brush next to Mangroves. I went back later at
around 10 a.m. and found the bird again for a birder who lives in
Flamingo. We watched it feed for about 15 minutes.
Other birds seen in the park were:
Swamp Sparrow
Savannah Sparrow
Grasshopper Sparrow
White-tailed Kite, seen along the south end of research road. After
paying the entrance fee, go about 2 miles and make a left going to Royal
Palm. Look for the signs for the Daniel Beard Research Center on the
right. Follow this road for about 8 miles until you see the Research
buildings, then go about another 2 miles until you seen a large grassy
area that has been cleared of Brazilian Pepper. The Kite was perched on
the left side of the road on a snag.

Bald Eagle
FLAMINGOS, at the end of Snake Bight, two birds. See them now while
they are about 50 yards from the end of the boardwalk. This is the
closest that I have ever seen them in the last 10 years from Snake
Bight. The mosquitos are bad, if possible rent a bike in Flamingo. Put
it in the trunk of a car, drive to the entrance of Snake Bight and ride
like crazy. Much better then walking. I got some great photos that I
may post later.

Green-winged Teal
Northern Shoveler, lots of ducks at Mryasek Pond, these are the three
species that I saw.
Hooded Merganser, one seen at Eco Pond in Flamingo.
