Birded the main hammock at AD Barnes yesterday from 6:45 PM-7:30 PM. Very overcast and gloomy. Thought it would rain, but it didn't. One busy flock of birds had many Gnatcatchers and Black-and-white Warblers with a surpise male Yellow Warbler that glistened gold in the treetops. Haven't seen many of these in Florida. My first season Ovenbird cautiosuly strutted in front of me on the trail by the fountain. Also my first migrant Red-eyed Vireo for the season (had one some weeks ago on Loop Rd. but probably a local breeder). A Brown Thrasher fed high up in a tree next to some very quiet Blue Jays. More Cardinals with whining young. Overhead some Chimney Swifts, a lone White Ibis and a flock of Mitred Parakeets.
