Been on the look out for any migrants/post-breeding dispersals. Nothing really different than whats being seen elsewhere. Lots of redstarts, black-and-whites, parulas, prairie, and a few brown-eyed red-eyed vireos. Also found a few larger groups of Swallow-tailed Kites (10-15). No shorebirds as water levels here are still too high.
As far as our resident birds go - the Red-cockaded Woodpecker population almost doubled in size this year. Going from about 30 birds to 50+(still surveying). We had our best reproductive year ever (12 fledges) and had 7 out of 10 translocated birds stay. Great news for the recovery of this endangered species.
