This afternoon, as I scanned for the odd shorebird in between the 1,000 Laughing Gulls at Cutler Wetlands, I spotted my first Short-tailed Hawk (light morph) gliding overhead. Shorebirds were very few, with nothing exceptional. This morning I had a meeting to attend at UM-RSMAS, so I took a 3-minute tour of Crandon and found only Piping Plovers (7), Sanderlings and Semipalmated Plovers. In short, I had a little shorebird day. My plan to visit the ag fields in search of Uppies never materialized. Maybe tomorrow. Here's the shorebird list:

Semipalmated Plover (dozens, Crandon)
Piping Plover (7, Crandon)
Killdeer (~10, CW)
Black-necked Stilt (10+,CW)
Spotted Sandpiper (Lake across 97th from CW)
Greater Yellowlegs (2, CW)
Lesser Yellowlegs (5, CW)
Sanderling (dozens, Crandon)
Least Sandpiper (6, CW)
Pectoral Sandpiper (CW)
Stilt Sandpiper (4, CW)
Short-billed Dowitcher (CW)
Curlew Sandpiper (Novia Scotia, but it's on its way)

If someone has some cheese, please let me know. It would go great with my whine.
