After spending a wonderful summer/fall season working for Mass Audubon on the Cape, I have returned for another great winter season in S.Florida!:-) My first trip back to the keys provided a great treat. My boyfriend and I spotted an Albino Turkey Vulture soaring in the sky at about MM 94. There are always birds soaring right about there since the Wild Bird Center is at MM 93.6. I have lived in Key Largo for about two years seasonally, I even interned at the Bird Center 2 years ago and never saw this bird. I can't imagine that it is a common sighting. It was very cool! If anyone is in that area, I would suggest hanging out at the bird center and watching the vultures in that area. The bird was almost all white. There were some darker colored feathers present on the birds breast but both upper and under flight wings were clearly white. I wish I had had my camera but of course I didn't!:-(
Oh well, hope y'all get to see it cause it was really awesome!
