Hi Brian:

I've seen those "Caribbean" Coots at Mackle Park on Marco myself several times. I'm convinced that they are American Coots with extensive white frontal 'shields'. The only 'true" Caribbean Coot I've ever seen in Florida was about 5-6 years ago on Stock island in a small pond on one of the greens on the golf course behind the Botanical Gardens. . . .
