While scoping the ocean from my Jensen Beach condo yesterday, I was shocked and amazed to see two flights of White-Winged Scoters -- one of about 25 birds and another of just 3, with the white secondaries clearly visible. A few minutes later, I was surprised by a flight of about 40 Black Scoters. All were well offshore and southbound, booking it. Occasional Northern Gannets were also headed south. An additional treat was a big-mutha Hammerhead Shark just past the surf line and somewhat inshore of several surfers who seemed unaware of its presence.
