Matheson Hammock is on Old Cutler Road on the stretch between Red Road and the traffic circle in Coral Gables, right next to Fairchild Tropical Garden. I don't have a map in front of me to give better directions.
The dirt road mentioned in the post is across the street from the border between Matheson and Fairchild TG; it goes straight back from Old Cutler and gets very birdy as the trees thin out near the end.
