Any suggestions to help ID these birds? At 7:15pm today, saw one orange bird approx 8 - 9 inches long with black beak & black patch across eyes and down throat -- wings black with some white. It was in our back yard, flitting from firebush to fiddlewood tree to top of areca palm with a yellow companion about the same size. The yellow companion also had black and white wings. They looked like Hooded Orioles in my bird book, but are out of their range. I wish I had a good camera!
On March 28th, the same two types of birds visited our yard, but both had orange bodies and the same other markings.
Note: We live about 1/2 mile south of Bill Sadowski park. If anyone lives nearby, I'd be glad to call you if I see them again.
