I was asked to conduct a botanical survey of a 21-acre island about a half mile offshore of Key West last Saturday. It's called Wisteria Island and is under review for development. While there I saw thirty or forty white-crowned pigeons roosting on dead Australian pines. There was an active osprey nest too. Here's hoping Monroe County can protect the island from being razed for rich folks.
