I talked to Larry this morning and as he was describing his Viera golden-plovers on the phone, I scanned the closest flat and found an American Golden-Plover. It was by itself and bullied the Piping Plovers near it. It appeared longer-legged than the Black-bellied Plovers, perhaps due to it's more erect posture. It had a "dirty" gray breast in addition to the usual field marks. A second probable golden-plover landed behind it, but quickly left.
I hope Larry calls tomorrow and describes Curlew Sandpiper.......
