WAKULLA COUNTY

DUVAL COUNTY
On the 10th 25 BLACK SCOTERS were seen from Neptune Beach, and on the 11th a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen at Hugenot Memorial Park in Jacksonville (P. Polshek).
On Sunday 16th a FRANKLIN’S GULL was present at Huguenot Park just at sunset. The bird was with other gulls on the ocean beach between the beach access road through the dunes and the jetties (B. Richter).
BREVARD COUNTY
On the 14th two AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS were found at the “Click Ponds” at Viera Wetlands, off Wickham Road extension
PINELLAS COUNTY
Over the weekend a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was seen along the wires near the old dog run field, south of North Beach at Ft. DeSoto Park (L. Atherton & all).
A SURF SCOTER was been seen feeding in the Intracoastal here at Reddington Shores. It is visible from the little park (Nature Refuge and Boardwalk) and/or from Shells Restaurant parking area (I. Hernandez)
BROWARD COUNTY
On Sunday 16th a female MACGILLIVRAY’S WARBLER was found at Tree Tops Park in Davie. Tree Tops Park is located on SW 100th Ave. (aka Nob Hill Rd) between I-595 and Griffin Rd. The address is 3900 SW 100th Ave, Davie, Fla. There is only one main road through this park and it terminates at a large parking lot and administrative building. After passing through the entrance station (no charge for entry during the week - $1.00 charge on weekends) continue until you reach a paved road on your right leading to a cluster of picnic pavillions (this is before you reach the administrative building/parking lot). Park at the pavillions and on the opposite side of the road is a mowed area and beyond that there are three equestrian trails leading into a brushy/weedy area. The middle trail is doubled and along this trail is where the bird was found (near the end of the trail). It called frequently and allowed several minutes of study. Eventually it dropped down into the vegetation and was not seen again. To reach this park exit I-95 at I-595 and go west to Nob Hill Rd.(SW 100 Ave). Go south and the entrance to the park will be on the left (east) side of the road. From Griffin Rd. proceed north on Nob Hill Rd. - the entrance to the park is well marked (K. Rosenberg).
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
Two female BLACK SCOTERS have been hanging around Hobie Beach, off Rickenbacker Causeway as it heads to Key Biscayne. They seem to stay close to shore (15-40 yd.) and appear comfortable amongst the picnickers, jetskiers and fishermen. Directions: At the end of US 1 in Miami-Dade County, take Rickenbacker Causeway (toll). At the east end of Powell Bridge (1st bridge), go .5 miles and turn right onto a small frontage road. Turn back west (one way) and go ~.2 miles and scoters should be to the left (R. Diaz).
Good Birding!
