Another wonderful morning at Wakodahatchee. This Tri-color, by no means a rare siting was just too good not to photograph (Photo by C.Zeglen). The two lesser yellowlegs are now joind by a greater yellowleg. And you can see the difference when they walk past each other! Also sighted were green winged teal, blue winged teal, mottled ducks, red-winged blackbirds, mockingbirds, shrike, moorhens, coots, purple gallinule at shoulder height feeding on seeds of the alligator flag, great blue herons, snowy egret, common egret, glossy ibis, pine/palm warblers, blue gray gnatcatchers, one gorgeous spot breasted oriole. Osprey overhead, kestrel heard, and limpkin reported (but not verified). The water is low in the first holding bin and you needn't go any farther than 100 feet to see most of the action. Still missing, sora, limpkin, common yellowthroats. Much of the plants have been cut back severely and looking is ridiculously easy. (Would that Eco-pond in the ENP were likewise). For a short morning outing, keep Wakodahatchee in mind.
