I stopped this morning to see if the Louisianas had arrived and within 20 steps saw one. At one point I had two close together near one of the puddles and heard a third calling from the hammock.
Yesterday late in the day there were about a dozen Short-billed Dowitchers (heard) at Cutler Wetlands, a possible Long-billed with them, two Greater Yellowlegs, 1/2 dozen Lesser Yellowlegs, a Least Sandpiper, and a Caspian Tern along with the usual summer stuff.
Migration is clearly here. I have high hopes for this fall migration. Spring was so bad, that I'm actually in negative numbers for migrants for the year.(birds seen = "+"; birds missed = "-") If I can get some good numbers in fall, I'll break even for the year. Gotta go. I have to enter 3 Lousiana Waterthrushes on my balance sheet.
