Wakodahatchee (WPB Water Plant- Jog Road) was jumping today. Blue winged teal arriving in good numbers. The Lesser Yellowlegs are becoming habituated to people on the boardwalk and coming closer. The usual numbers of coots, moorhens, and several Purple Gallinule. Blue-gray gnatcatchers are abundant in the oak trees and pine warblers were seen in clusters of 10-25. Several alligators have taken up residence and snowy egrets and common egrets are also about. One glossy ibis was sighted (at 15 feet from the boardwalk). And most unusual, two white ibis got into a food/territory dispute for real. They had each other by the beak and were thrashing about "for real." The spectators thought for sure the bigger was actually going to stab the smaller. But they broke and the loser took flight. Also present in very good numbers were mottled ducks. Photographers and bird watchers are getting a bit more aggressive and actually beginning to shout at the "joggers."
