Hi all,

The Martin roost is located at the intersection of NW 186th St. and Ludlam Rd, the Martins roost in the large trees on the south side of the bank and BK parking lot. Last year the roost hosted about the same number of birds. This year it has been harder to estimate the number of birds as they converge quickly as the sun sets. They start to come in from all directions which makes it difficult to count them. The majority of the martins stage a couple of miles to the north along Ludlam road. If you would like to see the roost show up after 7 p.m. at the intersection and you will not be disappointed. If you arrive early you can go check out the staging area, drive north on Ludlam which will turn into Flamingo after you pass NW 202 st. after you pass that intersection look for power lines on the west(left) side of the Flamingo. If you pass the canal that splits the two counties you have gone too far. A couple thousand Martins gather here for a couple of hours before flying south to the main roost at sunset.

Nature is Awesome
