Sam,
They are certainly present and very vocal that time of year almost anywhere from Marathon to Key West. I've had particularly good luck seeing them while hiking the trails of the Key Deer Refuge on Big Pine Key at dusk. Photography will be difficult because they come out so late, but it's worth a try.
