I went to see the Vermilion Flycatcher at the Greenway this morning. While I was photographing it, Larry Manfredi drove up with Steve from Ohio. They were on their way to Flamingo to look for Flamingos and asked if I was interested. So we all headed for Flamingo.

Just as we crossed the Buttonwood Canal, Larry spotted an perched raptor...a Mississippi Kite! After it flew out a pair (male & female) of Painted Buntings appeared.

We added one more birder to our party at Eco Pond (important because it affected the cost of the boat!) and got on the boat to hunt for Flamingos. We were successful, finding 10 at a reasonable range, and maybe another 20 or so at extreme range.
