Ruddy Daggerwings & Flycatchers

Here at Castellow Hammock Park yesterday there were at least 100 ruddy daggerwing butterflies on the flowers of a moujean tea plant (Nashia inaguensis) on the edge of our butterfly garden. Also present were two great crested flycatchers darting around the same plant eating wasps, bees, and diurnal moths. It's a jungle out there.

If any of you butterfly aficionados want to see this spectacle, you'd better hurry because I doubt they'll be around in those numbers for long. The park gate will be closed on weekends through the summer so park outside and walk in.

I've also been hearing yellow-billed cuckoos calling from the hammock.
