Bill, Trey, and I went out for a short run this morning to add to our list for the June Challenge. Weather was perfect, and although we didn't have exceptional variety, we added 6 species for the month and had good numbers and great looks of those we saw. Best of all was having 30+ Wilson's Storm-Petrels in our chum at the same time feeding. We also had small flocks of Audubon's Shearwaters on the water near the boat. The list:
Northern Gannet
Brown Booby (18)
Magnificent Frigatebird (~10)
Audubon's Shearwater 40+
Wilson's Storm-Petrel 35
Bridled Tern 5
Sooty Tern 20-25
We went out 20 miles and were back at the ramp at 11:30. Not bad for a short run to the swordfish grounds. We were all taking photos, so Trey will post some later.
