More specifically, the snake in the photo is a South Florida king snake (L. getula brooksi). It's lighter in color than the Florida king snake subspecies (L. getula floridana). On my recent 10-day solo canoe trip in the Everglades I stopped about a half mile west of Clubhouse Beach on my way to East Cape Sable and found a five foot South Florida king snake crawling along the seaweed wrack line.

As for indigo snakes, I've seen several recently in Everglades National Park, and all were young ones, so they seem to be making a comeback in ENP.
