Yesterday morning I watched two adult Spot-breasted Orioles actively feeding and returning food to a yard in Miami Shores. Over a span of twenty minutes, they each returned to the yard five times each or so. The orioles can be found at the intersection of Grand Concourse and NE 7th Avenue. From there, look south down NE 7th Avenue towards the speed bump no more than 150 feet away. The young birds are in the yard west of the speed bump. Across the road of the yard are the Miami Shores Recreation fields, so parking is not an issue. The parents are mostly feeding in the row of trees lining the northwestern section of the fields.
I did not hear the birds singing, but they were giving their quiet whistling call. An Orange-winged Parrot was seen flying SE in the afternoon.
A White-winged Parakeet nest may possible be in one of the three Canary-Date Palms just north of NE 96 street and NE 5th Avenue Road (yes, road).
