I visited florida from my home in England for the third time this May from 8th to 25th & as usual the birding was great. I log on to your wonderful web site every day to keep up to date with the latest sightings. On 9th I went to key west airport at dusk to connect hopefully with antillean nighthawk which happily I did but whilst there I thought I heard a brief snatch of mangrove cuckoo song. Can anyone tell me is this likely? Are they still recorded there? On the 8th I was on the Everglades & noticed Brian Rapoza`s report of that date on the bird board. I visited eco pond around 11-30am. There were two birds on there that first I thought were solitary sandpipers then revised this to lesser yellowlegs. I must admit even after 50 years birding I still have problems identifying some waders in unfamiliar settings. I noted that Brian Rapoza recorded no yellowlegs but 4 solitary sandpipers in the Everglades [including Eco Pond] this day, any comments? I did some days later, I believe see a solitary sandpiper landing at an ornamental pond in the centre of Fort Myers. How likely is this?
