Unfortunately this has been going on in south Florida for more than 30 years. I also remember them being for sale in the Market in Merida in the Yucatan also.
What a marvelous picture! Keep an eye out for Paul Sykes banded painting buntings from the north Florida- south Georgia populations. We had a couple of reports from south Miami-Dade County
last winter.
