ESCAMBIA COUNTY
The SAY’S PHOEBE originally found by Barry Fleming of Auburn/Opelika was refound this morning at Ft. Pickens. Today it was west of the concrete wall that separates the "parade ground" from the open dunes that go westward to the end of the island. Along that north - south wall there is one small pine tree just on the other side from the road. In that vicinity there is some concrete rubble out amongst the dunes. The bird spent a good bit of time there, then moved over the dunes westward, and around 30 minutes later came back to that area. At one point (last time seen) he flew over the wall into the parade ground area, pretty much on a direct line between the westernmost green and white two-story house and Battery Swearingen to the south. The phoebe is perching low, feeding low. There are also a few Eastern Phoebes around. About 10:30 this morning the wind started up and should go around north tonight. This area will be quite blustery (L. & D. Duncan) DeLorme p. 42; Pranty p. 42
