From 9:20 PM to 12:40 AM on 5/28-29, I completed nightjar surveys on two routes in Homestead and Everglades National Park. A total of 38 Chuck-will's-widows were heard, all within Everglades National Park or just outside the park. Chucks were heard at all 10 stops within the park and at the stop just outside the park, with a maximum of 5 heard at a stop along Research Road. At total of 18 Common Nighthawks were heard during the survey. The only other birds heard during the survey were Killdeer (2), Barred Owl (2) and Eastern Towhee (1).
