So I spent about 45 minutes at A.D. Barnes today. It was hot and dead except for a few Cardinals, Blue Jays, Grackles, Mockingbirds, and a wild Jungle Fowl.
Even in the butterfly department, it was dead. A few Fritillaries and Julias, Zebra Heliconians, and 1 Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
My dad's yard this morning provided more variety of Butterflies, Birds, and Reptiles.
Zarucco Duskywings
Great Southern Whites
Julia Heliconian
Zebra Heliconian
Cassius Blue
Gulf Fritillaries
Also had a 4-foot Everglades Racer. Apparently, it's a resident in the yard.
Birdwise, we had:
Starling
Eurasian Collared Dove
White-winged Dove
Mourning Dove (on nest)
Northern Mockingbird (on nest)
House Sparrow (males fighting over a female)
Common Grackle
Boat-tailed Grackle
Monk Parakeet
Red-masked Parakeet
Back to Bradenton I go!
