ESCAMBIA COUNTY
On Sunday 28th, a GOLDEN EAGLE was seen migrating over Gulf Breeze (L. & B. Duncan). DeLorme p. 43

OKALOOSA COUNTY
On the 4th an EARED GREBE was found at the Ft. Walton Beach City Holding Ponds (A. Knothe).DeLorme p. 44; Pranty p. 52

FRANKLIN COUNTY
On Monday 29th, a male WILSON’S WARBLER & a Black-whiskered Vireo (regional rare) were found at the Youth Camp Area on St. George Island State Park (J. Cavanagh). DeLorme p. 61; Pranty p. 61

WAKULLA COUNTY
On Sunday 28th, A LARK SPARROW was flushed at Marsh Sands Island Park (D. Simpson & J. Dozier) DeLorme p. 50

NASSAU COUNTY
On Monday 29th, a NASHVILLE WARBLER was found at Ft. Clinch State Park (J. Rink). DeLorme p. 41; Pranty p. 100

DUVAL COUNTY
On Saturday 27th, an Intermediate juvenile POMARINE JAEGER was seen attacking/robbing a laden ring-billed gull over Lt. Bird Island (P. Leary). DeLorme p. 58

On the 6th a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen along the lagoon area of Huguenot Park (B. Richter). DeLorme p. 58; Pranty p. 102

ALACHUA COUNTY
On Friday 26th, A BLACK-HEAD GROSBEAK was discovered by Grace Kiltie at San Felasco
Hammock's Progress Center. The grosbeak, a fourth record for the county, was on the Cellon Creek Trail. This section of San Felasco is not described in the Pranty guide, as it was just opened to the public a couple years ago. Here are the directions, from the state parks web site: "Take I-75 to U.S. 441 (Milepost Exit 399 – Old Exit 78) and drive south 2.8 miles (through the city of Alachua). Turn right onto Progress Blvd. Drive 0.7 miles to the park entrance. (Continue past the end of the pavement and onto the grade road.)" Pay your $2 and follow the dirt road to the bicyclists' parking area. The Cottontail Loop begins directly in front of you, going right. Almost immediately you'll see the Cellon Creek Trail coming in from your left. Go about half a mile and look for a large collapsed tree near a place where the bike and horse trails come together and there's little or no canopy (fide R. Rowan) DeLorme p. 65; Pranty p. 94

A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was seen at O'Leno State Park on Firday 26th. The Black-billed Cuckoo, a 15th record for the county, was on the River Trail near the crossover, eating webworms in a hickory tree (J. Hintermister). DeLorme p. 64; Pranty p. 92

LEVY COUNTY
On the 2nd a LEAST FLYCATCHER was found at Cedar Key, along the Witman Trail behind the museum (B. Wallace). DeLorme p. 69; Pranty p. 85

ORANGE COUNTY
On Sunday 28th, a WILSON’S WARBLER was found at Meade Gardens in Winter Park (D. Richardson). On the 5th a 1st year CANADA WARBLER was found at the park (D. Richardson). DeLorme p. 80; Pranty p. 144

BREVARD COUNTY
Two BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were in the fields south of the road leading into Viera Wetlands on Monday the 6th, along with 6 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS. The location is about 150 yards east of the water treatment plant HQ (D. Freeland). DeLorme p. 88

An adult FRANKLIN’S GULL in basic plumage was at Merritt Island NWR on Tuesday the 7th. The location was Trail Marker 6 ("Waterfowl" info sign) on the Black Point Drive (D. Freeland). DeLorme p.81/82; Pranty p. 176

During the past two weeks GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERS have been seen at Turkey Creek Sanctuary in Palm Bay (S. & B. Hills). DeLorme p. 88; Pranty p. 181

POLK COUNTY
On the 29th a SHORT-TAILED HAWK was seen at Saddle Creek Park, plus 15 species of Warblers along the nature trail, including a KENTUCKY WARBLER (B. Snow, T. Palmer & all). Later that week SWAINSON’S & another KENTUCKY were found (L. Albright). DeLorme p. 85; Pranty p. 158

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY
On the 6th a female GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen along the nature trail that has three footbridges at Flatwoods Park (B. Ahern). DeLorme p. 83/84; Pranty p. 132

PINELLAS COUNTY
During the past week at Ft. DeSoto Park 26 species of warblers were found including GOLDEN-WINGED, CANADA, SWAINSON’S & KENTUCKY. A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was found in the Tower Area on the 30th. On the 1st a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO & CANADA WARBLER were found at the fort, plus a LEAST FLYCATCHER and another SWAINSON’S WARBLER at the Tower (L. Atherton & all). On the 2nd, a second year male MOURNING WARBLER were found at the Tower Area, just east of the first chain-lined fence, it stayed in the area for the next several days (J. Puschock & all). An ELEGANT TERN was seen on Friday & Saturday 11th at the Gulf Pier (L. Atherton). DeLorme p. 90; Pranty p. 126

On the 30th, At Sawgrass Lake Park a GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER were seen (R. Smith & all). DeLorme p. 90; Pranty p. 126

SARASOTA COUNTY
On the 30th, two GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERS were found at Pinecrest Park in Sarasota (J. Dubi). DeLorme p. 97

LEE COUNTY
On Saturday 26th, a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was found in Little Estero Lagoon (M. Gonsalo). DeLorme p. 110

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
A male & female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS continue to be seen visiting the yellow flowers of Necklace Pod and the orange-red tubular flowers of Firebush (both native species) at Castellow Hammock Park (22301 SW 162 Avenue; phone 305/242-7688). If you show up before or after park hours, park outside on the south side of the gate and walk in. The birds were seen north of the nature center building. There are also lots of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds in and around the Hummingbird & Butterfly Garden in front of the nature center. Also on Saturday 27th, a SWAINSON’S HAWK was seen soaring overhead (S. Schlick& all) Another report that on the same day a SHINY COWBIRD was seen with a flock of Red-winged Blackbird (R. Jetty). On Friday 26th, a “TRAIL’S FLYCATCHER” was seen in the afternoon at A.D. Barnes Park (B. Rapoza). On the 1st. a WILSON’S WARBLER was found at the park (P. Bithorn). DeLorme p. 119; Pranty p. 222

On Saturday 27th, a female KENTUCKY WARBLER was found at Mourningside Nature Park (Alex).

MONROE COUNTY
On Sunday 28th, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was found on Key West. The bird was hawking insects from the very top of a leafless tree at the Old Harris School on Southard, a couple blocks up from Duval (B. Mulrooney). DeLorme p. 126

On the 30th at Indigenous Park on Key West the following were seen: BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, SWAINSON’S & KENTUCKY WARBLER (B. Mulrooney). DeLorme p. 126
