Hi South Florida Birders: I spent approx. 4 months living in Key Largo, starting January 8th, and leaving on April 28th.
The cold weather in January seemed to cause the Black hooded Parakeets to disappear for awhile from my neighborhood around mm 106, but as soon as it warmed up, they were back. I counted as many as 9 at once, flying around, and they were often at the feeders behind the Caribbean Club.
What I couldn't find, despite a number of times looking, were the Blue-crowned Parakeets that were tallied on the Christmas bird count at Islamorada. Cheers, Thor
