On my way to work this morning, I made a brief stop at Black Point Marina in search of the Mangrove Cuckoo. I heard and saw the bird where Toe and the Curlews reported this weekend hearing and seeing the cuckoo. I parked at the end of the canoe launch parking lot. I heard the bird call from the mangroves on the left side of the road. Shortly after, it flew across the road and into a tree very close to where I was standing. It posed for some good shots. (photos, that is!) It called and moved around a bit in the trees. At one point it dropped to the ground momentarily by the side of the road for a photo and then flew back into the trees. A singing prairie was also present.
