Devin Bosler and I drove down from Central Florida today in search of breeders and migrants in the upper keys. We arrived at the Card Sound toll shortly before sunrise and easily heard multiple Yellow Warblers, Black-whiskered Vireos, Gray Kingbirds, and White-crowned Pigeons. Carysfort Circle was the most productive spot of the morning with Blackpoll and Cape May Warblers along with American Redstart, Indigo Bunting, and Eastern Kingbird. We also had both Yellow-billed and Mangrove Cuckoos on the northern part of the circle. The Green Turtle in Islamorada was pretty slow with a small flock of 3 redstarts, 2 yellowthroats, and a Blackpoll Warbler. Overall, I think we saw all the breeders we were looking for but had a slow migrant day.
